2048 is the puzzle that ate the internet in 2014 and still hasn't given the time back. The rules are absurdly simple — slide, double, don't run out of space — but the strategy goes deep.

Beginner strategy

• Pick a corner. Most pros camp the bottom-right.
• Never break the row. Avoid moves that force your high tile up.
• Build a snake. Aim for a descending sequence: 2048, 1024, 512...
